so wait, tell me again?

there are many things that annoy me, but of late ive found words to describe these things. firstly, i'd just like to point out that removing the dark coloured plastic from the frames of 3D glasses and then wearing them as though theyre real glasses does NOT make you look more intelligent, more indie, more alternative, more cool, more rebellious, less conformist, or any other adjective which you think enhances your appearance or personality. in fact, quite the opposite - they simply make you look like a twat. one question ive had to ask myself recently; why have glasses suddenly come into fashion? a few years ago glasses were considered uncool, and made people look like "nerds". now, one could argue that since there has been an increase in the value of intellect (as opposed to physical attractiveness), then it would seem justified that an iconic, symbolic object such as spectacles would seem in higher demand. however, thats exactly what they are: iconic objects. nothing has changed - people are not becoming smarter, or more vision impaired. fashion has simply evolved to incorporate the idea that a pair of glasses (even if they have no lenses) is enough to make anyone look "off beat". can they not just accept that glasses should only be worn by people who actually need them? clearly not.
the second thing which i find has impacted the way i see the world (and something which im sure has been under debate for a long time) is the bizarre belief - mainly among young people - that alcohol is the only means by which they can have a good time. i may seem like a "party pooper", but to me it appears that the only reason people my age drink, these days, if because they can. and i dont believe that raising the legal drinking age will help the matter in the slightest. kids these days just arent brought up to appreciate alcohol for what it really is. from what ive found, people who have been allowed to have, lets say, half a glass of wine at dinner have less of a chance of getting completely trashed at parties. why? because they dont feel the need to fill themselves to the brim with alco-pops "just because they can". thats not to say that you cant have one or two and enjoy yourself - im talking about getting so drunk that you can barely walk and have to be escorted off the premesis because you're throwing up more bodily fluids than you ever knew were in you, and only hearing about what you'd done on facebook the next day. not classy.
i guess my main beef is with people who think it makes them cooler, or who think they cant possibly have a good time unless they cant remember what happened the night before. please, just sort yourselves out.
